The Child

2024 | chicken wire/papier mache/cardboard | installation

The child is the protagonist of And I Remain, and the individual experiencing a static state of the-between. Traversing the perceived transition from childhood into adulthood, the Child wanders through a forest of unbelonging, questioning their own identity while grappling with the reality of illness and the onset of grief.

This character acts as an ode to the kid I left behind and is a representation of myself as I entered into a state of liminality through grief. Positioned on a bare metal bed frame, they are surrounded by a forest exaggerated through shadow-play and a singular house nested in the middle.
