FAR/CLOSE

2023 | cardboard/projection | installation

Far From Home / Close to Home is an exploration of the house as a familiar space, transformed into a place of emptiness and unbelonging. While the cardboard sculpture houses nothing but light, scenes project out from the back that hold illustrative elements of a fractured narrative. Memories are twisted here to display objects familiar to a domestic setting, but surrounded by off-putting structures of overgrown vines or spectral figures. Here, viewers get a glimpse of a space constructed in liminality that shifts the atmosphere around them and invites them into an unfamiliar place of their own.
